Does anybody have one of these on a 4200 tractor? Is it worth the extra cost over a 3rd party backhoe to get the JD name? About how much are they going for?

Thanks,

Doug.

I have a 4600 with a 48 'hoe. The JD 'hoe can be connected to the tractor in less than ten minutes. I also have a mid mount mower and the backhoe mounts with no problems.
If I had to do it again, I would buy the JD hoe. It works just as good as any other 'hoe, but JD did their homework on the installation. ....

I have a 47 hoe on a 4300. It cost about $5,200 which included power beyond kit and installation. It mounts using brackets which are bolted directly to tractor. After removing 3 pt you use rockshaft arms to lift it into place. As the previous post mentioned takes about 10 minutes. Most aftermarket hoes utilize 3pt arms and linkages and sometimes separate hydraulics to operate. Mounted on 3pt they don't seem to be as stable as JD hoe. It's been a very troublefree unit and I feel that it has basically paid for itself in the 2 years I've had it. ....

Mounting is the big issue. A 47 JD hoe is only a Bush Hog painted green (that's why you can get any color but green from bush hog). I looked at both the Woods 7500 and the Bush Hog when I purchased a hoe for my JD855 last year. Both are similar in spec. Bush Hog is a little better in some areas but I think the Woods is built better, hose routing, controls, etc. I ended up with the Woods since it was the only one with a frame mount. Did have to customize the frame to make it fit better and mount easier though. Other than that I have no complaints what so ever, it has been an excellent attachment. The setup from JD will probably mount better out of the box than the aftermarkets. Look them all over good, mounting, cost, digging spec. etc. weigh the good and bad and go for it. You'll probably be happy with whatever one you go with. Good luck. ....

Doug

Well, I looked and looked, and ended up buying a BRADCO. It was about $1400 less than the model 47 and appeared to be a lot sturdier built in the swing mounting area, pins and hydraulic cylinder. Mounts and dismounts the same way as the 47 but doesnt need to be frame mounted like the WOODS. The dealer is picking up my green toy this week and installing the new backhoe and whatever hydraulic stuff needs to be done.
Will let you know how it works out.

Well It arrived yesterday.
HOW DID I EVER LIVE WITHOUT A BACKHOE????
The BRADCO 3375 is a perfect fit on my 4200, spent the day today getting the feel of it, dug out 2 - 20" alder stumps, a few appliance size boulders and it kept on ticking.
I guess you can find me outside somewhere for the next few days...........
Don't bother calling, I wont hear the phone.

Got a Bradco 408 hoe mounted on my 970 JD. However, all the mounting brackets and hoe frame are bought from JD and are the exact same ones used for their OEM hoe. Bradco simply made their hoe to fit the JD factory hoe mount set up. Bradco hoes are bit more expensive but seem to be heavier built then the other hoes I looked at. ....
